Must every handgun maximize efficiency? Or is there a gray area where something that’s cheap, cool, and fun to shoot is acceptable? I have plenty of “gunfighter” handguns, sometimes I just want to watch huge fireballs and shoot cheap ammo…
Looking at the link…. Since it only works with 9mm or 38 super 1911s, you are already in a boutique gun world that I don’t care to enter. I don’t care for cheap/cool/fun to shoot. I’m a stick in the mud.
I may have a Beretta, couple of CZ’s, an Hk here and a Kimber there, but sometimes taking out my .44 mag or .50 AE to blast jugs, pumpkins, etc just makes my day.

What is the point of this conversion beyond tinkering?

To make 100 year old technology even less reliable and effective.

If I only dealt with serious firearms, I’d get bored pretty quickly…

It’s fun and cheap to shoot. It allows you to use a quality handgun for a caliber generally reserved for crude, cheap handguns.
